HOW TO REGISTER YOUR PHOTOSHOOT LOCATION

If you think you might have a suitable property we would love to see some photos. To begin the process we need to see images of all suitable rooms: living room, kitchen, dining room, hallway, main bedroom, main bathroom and an exterior image of the house. They do not need to be professional photos but they do need to give us a good idea of the space and style of each room.

These photos need to be sent to Sophie. They will then be reviewed and you will be informed as to whether the house will work with us or not. If the property is suitable Sophie will be in touch with any questions and will arrange a time to visit the property and take photos for the website.

What makes a great photoshoot location

There are many qualities we look for when taking on a new photoshoot location

LOCATION

LOCATION

LOCATION

Properties in London and the surrounding area tend to be the busiest locations. Locations outside London must provide scope internally and externally. There has to be a reason for people to travel so any extra features like a lovely garden, summerhouse, shepherds hut, swimming pool etc are all good features.

FEATURES

FEATURES

FEATURES

Features in a property are essential. We look for good windows: wooden or crittall, good flooring options: parquet, concrete, floorboards, fireplaces: period or modern, high ceilings, textures on walls: period panelling, tongue and groove.

LIGHT

LIGHT

LIGHT

The property must have good natural light to allow people to have the option to shoot in natural daylight.

FURNITURE & DECOR

FURNITURE & DECOR

FURNITURE & DECOR

Stylish furniture and props always make the locations appealing to prospective clients. Too much clutter is not a good thing. There has to be an inspirational feel to the property. The more neutral the paint colours on the wall the more versatile the house will be as it will allow people to stamp their mark on it. A mix of neutral and feature walls are a good idea as they provide more background options.

ROOM SIZES

ROOM SIZES

ROOM SIZES

These must be good to allow people scope in the rooms and allow the photographer to pull back. The larger the room the more versatile it is. The property must have at least three suitable rooms, the most important being a living room, dining room, kitchen, main bedroom, bathroom. A good hallway and pretty children’s rooms are an added bonus.

FLOORING

FLOORING

Floorboards, parquet, concrete are the most popular finishes. Suitable flooring needs to be in at least the main rooms: living room and main bedroom.

Why choose Light Locations

Organising photoshoots can be stressful. At Light Locations, we do everything we can to make life easy. That’s why.

We take our online photos seriously
All of the photos on our website are taken by our founder, Sophie. Having spent many years behind the camera, she is a natural at showing locations in their best light, both spatially and angle wise.

We offer dozens of ‘Paint and Decorate‘ locations
We know that when you’re shooting interiors, it pays to use a versatile property. Sophie handpicks all of our locations and ensures the majority can be painted and decorated. Our clients are free to make each room in these properties their own. If they would like to hang wallpaper or paint walls, they can.

We really know our properties
We know all of our locations like the back of our hands. We can talk our clients through each location room by room and let them know which properties will work for their vision and which won’t.

We keep our team and portfolio small
We believe in quality over quantity. We are incredibly efficient and are able to form a personal relationship with all of our owners and clients.

We frequently update our website
We want to make booking a location as simple as possible. We are constantly adding new locations to our site and go to great effort to ensure our clients have the most up-to-date information they need.

CLIENT TESTIMONIALS

I only recently registered with Light Locations, but the bookings for our house were almost immediate. I believe it makes a huge difference that Sophie personally comes to each property and the service so far has been second to none. Sophie and Madeleine are super efficient and the fact that they're lovely people too is an absolute bonus! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

Deborah Chancellor | Owner of Botley House

Light Locations provide invaluable support to us as a location owner. I don’t know of any other location agency who familiarise themselves with their locations as much as they do. Communication lines are always open and all our needs and queries are always dealt with promptly and efficiently. Quite simply, they are brilliant.

Rose Hammick | Owner of Marmora Road

Light Locations have always been the most proactive and creative with their marketing, advertising and everything generally. From giving me a sign to put by the bin (!) to surprising me with the lovely calendar, they really have been brilliant. Whilst I’m singing Sophie's praises, Madeleine and Nicola have been great too - I always know that they’re protecting my best interests and I’ve yet to have any "nasty surprises”. If anything has cropped up then they have been brilliant at resolving things.
