Q & A with our lovely Nicola!

Sophie Hitchens Saturday 05th August 2017

Nicola has worked for Light Locations for 5 years and is our Office Co-Ordinator working alongside Madeleine.  Nicola’s job is to keep the office running smoothly: she deals with clients and owners of the locations, co ordinating the diary of options and bookings, sorting the huge amount of paperwork involved with the shoots, making sure people pay on time (!) and in general keeping on top of all the admin involved with the office! Nicola is a joy to work with, she is always happy and smiley and always brightens the office up when she is in!

What did you do in the years before working at Light Locations?
Prior to working at Light Locations, I have always aspired to follow a creative career. I started studying interior design at college which led to doing a diploma in photography. After that, I then went on to work for the leading portrait studio at the time ‘Venture’ gaining valuable studio experience before working at a new family run portrait studio nearer home for the next 5 years.

I fell into nannying for a lovely family with 3 boys after this which allowed me to work freelance, photographing weddings and child portraits building up my portfolio. During this time I also got to travel and see some wonderful places with the family I worked for and I loved the fun which came with looking after active and adventurous children.

What part of your job is your favourite part?

My favourite part of the job is helping clients find the right locations for their shoots and seeing the end results, some of which you can’t believe they’ve managed to achieve in such a short space of time. We are lucky that we get to chat to lovely owners, stylists, photographers and clients and all within a lovely Barn in the countryside. I absolutely love working at Light Locations and have done since the day I started, although having major house envy is the hardest part of the job!!!

Do you have pets and/or children?

I have 2 beautiful girls, Willow (3) Lottie (1) and a Weimaraner dog Woody who keep me very busy when I’m not in the office. The girls have a great social life and we enjoy lots of classes and playdates together.

What would your ideal day look like?

My ideal day would involve the sun shining, happy children, husband and being by the seaside.

What are your favourite foods?

My favourite foods generally involve fish and chocolate (obviously not together though), and I’m well know in the office for bringing in the funniest looking homemade cakes!

What is your favourite season?

My favourite season would definitely have to be summer, you can’t beat outdoor living and vitamin D for the soul.

What is the one thing that you love to do that you get to do nearly every day?

I love walking in our beautiful countryside with our dog Woody, who has lots of energy and stamina.

What outdoor activities do you most enjoy?

I have recently completed the London Moonwalk which I really enjoyed and am now looking for my next challenge.
