Bathroom Inspiration for a Calming Retreat

Sophie Hitchens Monday 08th January 2018

A bathroom is often a place to retreat to at the end of the day. Away from work, chores and the everyday demands of hectic lives, our bathrooms become a place to go to be alone and to relax.

If you are looking to redesign your bathroom, take inspiration from some of our gorgeous Light Locations to create your own calming retreat. We’ve picked 3 of our favourite design tips to create your own oasis of tranquility.

A Grey and White Colour Scheme

We know that colours have an enormous effect on us and how we feel. Get the colours right and you can create an oasis of calm simply by changing the colours in your bathroom. So which colours work best when creating a calming retreat?

People used to feel that grey was rather boring, perhaps dull and maybe even depressing. In recent years though, grey has seen a huge turnaround, once people realised that in truth it has a very soothing effect. Paired with white, grey becomes even more tranquil as white helps to bring clarity to our thoughts and in turn renders us officially relaxed!

Add a Subtle Feature

Enhancing the basic grey and white colour scheme with a feature that is strong, but subtle can help to develop the atmosphere. A textured bath panel, a touch of exposed wood or some delicate gold accessories can create a feeling of decadence within your calm oasis. It can also add a gentle accent and focal point if you like to meditate in the bath!

Consider a Roll Top Bath

If you have read past Light Location blogs, you know we love a roll top bath. In the past, only those with a substantial design budget and large bathroom could accommodate these indulgent tubs, but today they are much more widely available in budgets and sizes to suit.

Adding a roll top bath adds that touch of decadence to your oasis and allows you to wallow more comfortably in your bubbles.
