Hot Shoot Location for June : Ham House

Suzi Davis Saturday 17th July 2021

While June may have failed to provide warm and sultry summer days, it successfully delivered the prized title of hot shoot location of the month for one Light Location.

Ham House, the stunning barn conversion in the Wiltshire countryside, saw a generous slice of the shoot booking pie as clients scrambled to utilise its large open plan internal spaces and incredible 5 acres of gardens and meadows.

We look at why clients including the White Company, Prestigious Textiles, Neptune, and Little Greene embraced Ham House throughout June.

What makes Ham House such a Hot Shoot Location?

There are plenty of features that make Ham House a special photo shoot location. Internally, the shining star is the magnificent main living space. Open plan and full height, it is exquisitely framed by the striking untouched oak frame from the original barn. Throughout the barn, decorating is allowed, which brings enormous versatility to this incredible space.

And a pretty decked garden opens out to an achingly glorious orchard and wildflower meadow in poetic contrast to its interior.

A countryside location

As one of our country house photoshoot locations, Ham House offers a wealth of features that clients love. For example, ample parking, privacy and space. And whilst city-based clients may need to travel, this has never been a deterrent. Its location is on ideal transport links (both road and rail) and is close to several highly recommended and convenient accommodation spots.

The Location Owner’s Approach

However beautiful and versatile a photoshoot location, the approach and attitude of its owner will ultimately seal its success. For that reason, an added appeal to clients is the lovely owner of Ham House, Fiona Kenneth. Not only did Fiona create a fantastic space, but she’s a delightful person to work with.

Fiona lovingly transformed the property from an abandoned rat-infested relic to a stunning modern living space that takes your breath away. And when it comes to keeping shoot crews happy, Fiona knows the little things matter. But what makes her the ideal location owner is her flexibility and personability. In short, two factors that will keep clients wanting to come back for more:

“I just wanted to take this opportunity to say how amazing Ham house was and Fiona the owner. She went out of her way to be helpful (as did her Mum and the dogs!).”

Updated Location Shots

To illustrate the beauty of this glorious and unique location, the updated photos taken earlier this year by our friend and esteemed interior photographer Malcolm Menzies speak for themselves.
