Inspiration for your Childs Bedroom

Sophie Hitchens Tuesday 17th April 2018

Children’s bedrooms need to strike a balance between fun and practicality, and ideally have the ability to grow and evolve with the child. If you are looking for interior design ideas for your child or children’s room, take inspiration from some of the fabulous children’s rooms in a selection of our Light Locations.

Consider White but Bright

Many parents would run a mile from the idea of a white bedroom for their children. However, not only does it create a neutral palette that can easily grow with a child but it also creates a backdrop for calm and peace. The idea of a room that helps a child sleep should appeal to all parents!

White alone can be a little stark for a child’s room, so consider how you can add bright accents. Perhaps some colourful words in a poster or maybe bright red shutters? Or go all out with a wild array of colours.

Treat Them Like a Prince or Princess

Without going overboard, it can be easy to create little touches that make a child feel like royalty in their bedroom. A regal headboard or a canopy in gentle pastels can make your little one feel very special. Set it against a strong royal blue or soft pastel pinks and the result can be classically sophisticated. Go even further if you have any quirky spare roof space and create an amazing den for them to play in like this tree den in Sophie’s children’s room. Designed and created by Design by Timber.

More than One?

Quite often a child’s room is catering for more than one inhabitant, either on a temporary or ongoing basis. This presents a fun opportunity to create quirky little differences within a harmonious overall design. The key is to keep a level of neutrality, peppered with subtle individuality.
