Location Spotlight: The Willows

Written by Tabitha Paradise Tuesday 05th August 2025

Out in the Wiltshire countryside, not too far from Trowbridge lies a regency farmhouse named The Willows. It’s a beautiful new addition to the Light Locations roster, with a carefully curated palette of natural tones and plenty of picturesque spots to shoot in. It’s a property that offers a variety of looks under one roof, allowing creativity to spark in every corner.

Light and Natural

Recently converted, the old cow shed has been transformed into a modern, open-plan kitchen and dining area. The space is neat as a pin, with clean lines and crisp white walls kept fresh with natural textures and accents of foliage. Each surface has been meticulously styled, with lovely areas of open shelving to display sculptural ceramics and rustic bread boards. Though they may be contemporary in style, the rooms are framed above by the original wooden beams, a tasteful nod to the roots of the property that gives it a homely warmth.

The hayloft bedroom is another new renovation in this property, and here the beams take centre stage even further. The walls are finished in a pale limewash alongside the exposed trusses, a calm yet inviting tone that photographs beautifully. Throughout the room, flowing fabrics add a delicate touch of softness as gentle light filters in through the angled skylights.

Deeper Tones

Elsewhere in The Willows, its period features become more pronounced. In the utility space, moody brown walls and stone floors set the scene of a classic countryside home, though its sharp cabinetry keeps the space stylish and up-to-date. The marble worktop makes a striking contrast with the deeper hues, and works as a lovely scene for shooting recipes, florals or kitchen accessories.

Nearby, these earthy tones continue into a spacious bootroom with pegs and a bench, ideal for showcasing tactile accessories like baskets or bags alongside muddied boots tangled with autumn leaves. In the central hall the space opens out to frame a fireplace beneath its spiraling carpeted staircase, leading the eye upward to double height walls criss-crossed with timber beams. This space is rich with delightful details; small recesses and ledges for shooting products and deep wooden floors.

The bathroom is another space worth a mention, although The Willows has two freestanding baths. It’s the larger of the two that continues the original flooring underfoot, complementing it with a taupe roll-top tub and glorious views out onto the grounds. There’s plenty of space here for shooting cosmetics or bathing accessories, along with neutral walls that lend themselves to all kinds of content.

Pinks and Blues

The large living room is painted in a misty and cocooning blue, accented by large square windows and a marble mantle perfect for framing fireside pieces. The space features a few contemporary touches too, such as graphic art pieces and a built-in shelving partition. It’s a fluid space with plenty of ledges and alcoves for placing products, as well as pretty patio doors leading outdoors.

The main bedroom pairs pretty pink walls with deep navy furnishings, including a lovely shabby chic chest of drawers. The large shuttered window panes fill the room with gorgeous light, perfect for shooting layered bedding and relaxed fashion pieces. Upon request, there’s also a quaint children’s room available – a sweetly patterned space that combines pastel turquoise with a dusky rose.

The Willows is a welcome addition to the Light Locations roster, a beautiful property filled with nature-inspired tones and tastefully modernised interiors. With so much to offer, it’s sure to gain popularity over the coming year and find its rooms filled with set ups for all seasons.
