Blissfully Pink Walls for Spring Shooting

Tabitha Paradise Tuesday 25th March 2025

Spring’s soft awakening is often the time to banish the greys of winter and begin embracing a more fresh and lively palette: Lush greens, pastel blues, canary yellows and, of course, pink. It’s a colour of joy and tenderness, and always a treat to see when bursting out in delicate blossoms atop previously stark and barren trees. For photoshoots, a background of pink can add subtle warmth, a more interesting alternative to whites and creams that still complements natural tones and textures effortlessly.

Textured Plaster Style Pinks

In the UK, modern plaster often has a rosy hue due to the use of gypsum stone, a mineral that helps to keep the finish smooth, flat and resilient to cracking. It’s become a look of its own in recent years, with a raw and organic textured finish that translates well in camera and helps products pop. The feature wall of The Shed is a perfect example, gorgeously accessorised with pink and yellow painted furniture and surrounded by the restful tones of natural wood and greenery.

Moon Cottage has a similar textured finish, this time paired with poured concrete floors and accented with rich red beams of colour. There’s a bohemian feel to it and a nod to grounded, earthy materials which works beautifully for tactile products with handmade elements such as wicker furniture or woven rugs. This may be why Moon Cottage was selected for a stunning shoot with Oliver Bonas, its contemporary style and warmth radiating through each image.

Brondesbury Road is similar although a touch more muted, its pinkish walls almost slipping into the realms of creamy beige in the main living room, finished in Bauwerk limewash paint. Through into the kitchen however the walls have a more pastel tone, an ideal backdrop for textured ceramics or food photography. The bedroom and bathroom are pink too, the latter stacked with pretty square tiles that shimmer with a spectrum of dusty pinks and muted neutrals.

Pastels and Period Features

Pink also lends itself to more classical properties, adding a feminine flair that looks lovely alongside ornate adornments and period details. In Stroud House, a Georgian fronted Cotswold stone property, the walls are awash with a pastel blush, complemented with cream panelling and shabby chic furniture. The accent archways just wouldn’t look the same in white, and look particularly pretty when styled up with floral artwork and drapey materials.

Spring Cottage is another location whose classic features are bathed in warmth. The bedroom and bathroom are filled with texture and a peachy glow, with an almost terracotta roll top bath. It’s such an immersive space, with a curated selection of props and accessories at every turn, and its charmingly aged walls bring endless textures ideal for fashion or product backgrounds.

A Bolder Blush

For those in search of something stronger, the eclectic Gaulden Manor springs to mind. This historic house in Somerset has all kinds of colourful accents across its walls and furnishings. Its kitchen features deep, almost purple walls with a rosy AGA and smatterings of navy and green in the accessories on the shelves and rustic table. With burgundy tiles underfoot and vintage pieces everywhere, it’s an incredibly unique space to shoot and style.

Upstairs, the many bedrooms of Gaulden Manor bring lively colour in the form of statement wallpaper. One bedroom, however, is a raspberry shade, with a crisp line of white capping it above. The floorboards are a deep brown, and the room is decorated with an embellished goldbed, printed armchair and white furniture. Imagination is the only limit here, with such rich tones and directional light to play with, there are so many possibilities for future shoots in this character-filled space.

From misty rose to rich orchid, there’s a variety of pink walls waiting to inspire the next season of production teams on their shoots. With the weather slowly changing for the better, Spring always brings a renewed sense of hope and welcomes vibrant creativity in all colours and shades.
