From its beautifully panelled windows to its contemporary orangery, Cambridgeshire House is a location made of artistic flair and a keen curator’s eye. Set against 6.5 acres of land, this sprawling old rectory has undergone dramatic changes to become the stylish blend of old and new that it proudly is today.

Despite being a new addition to the Light Locations roster, the owners of Cambridgeshire House have lived there for eight years. They described it as an “80’s cliché” when they first moved in, with avocado bathrooms, cork tiles and a muddled layout that simply didn’t work for modern life. Over the space of five years the house was completely renovated, including the addition of the orangery at the back of the kitchen and extensive landscaping throughout the grounds.
Now, the property is a spacious, stylish home that balances classic pieces with high end finishes. Light pours into the multiple living and dining areas, creating a stunning variety of spaces in which to focus on a shoot day. Each room holds a muted, earthypalette that brings beautiful warmth to any scene, further enriching it as a truly versatile shoot location. With ample parking and beautiful grounds, this home even works for large products and outdoor pieces.

A first look at Cambridgeshire House’s glorious interior comes in the form of imagery, photographed by Brent Darby with styling and art direction by Ali Heath. The images have a painterly quality to them, showcasing the beautiful light that effortlessly breathes through this location’s many rooms. Throughout the property, carefully selected pieces of structural art and statement furniture work harmoniously in an ode to form and craftsmanship, all kindly made available for use on shoot.
Elsewhere, aged vases and leafy palms bring texture and contrast to the crisp white walls. In the kitchen, the neat shaker style cabinetry frames a large shabby-chic island, complete with golden taps over the wide butler sink. It’s a refreshing addition thatworks so well with the deep hues of the original flooring, and is further complemented by the colours of nature framed in the windows beyond.

Through gorgeous views and tastefully placed foliage, each room in this property maintains its connection to the outside world. The lower floor holds so many doorways to the gardens, including a lovely little bootroom accessorised with vintage pieces hanging from tinkling brass hooks. From the kitchen, pretty doors lead out onto the terrace where climbing greenery and roses adorn the exterior walls. Across the manicured gardens lies the picturesque glasshouse, filled with plants and vases for arrangements in the house.
Upstairs, tactile raw wood pieces and woven rugs further cement nature’s presence in this home. Throughout the many bedrooms colour and art are used sensitively, favouring a splash of burnt orange or soft pink to accent the continued pared-back decor. The master bedroom is of particular note, opening out to reveal a gorgeous freestanding bath poised before a window of greens.

Cambridgeshire House is a property that sings to its own tune, a melody of traditional style accented with structural art and a natural palette. Despite its individuality, it’s a hugely versatile space that holds huge potential for photoshoots, offering a multitude of beautiful spaces both inside and out.
