As always, the twilight days of the year always bring forth a reminiscent mood. It’s the perfect time to reflect on the highs and lows of 2024 which has been an unpredictable year for so many, particularly with the rising costs of living.
At Light Locations, we have felt the squeeze as much as everyone else but luckily we have managed to stay busy which has kept the team bustling away behind the scenes. We’ve continued welcoming old friends whilst also taking on new clients, all resulting in some truly gorgeous photography. Highlights of the year include Graham & Green’s eclectic 50th anniversary shoot at Gaulden Manor, which was the favourite of mine. Our lovely accounts administrator Nicola loved the David Hunt Lighting imagery that was shot at Upton House, a stunning location which ended up being our top location of the year.
Our also lovely Location Coordinators Madeleine and Katie were both drawn to romantic fashion shoots, selecting Lihi Hod at The Rectory and Olana at Eagle House as their favourites respectively.
We wanted to share our favourite locations of the year too. I was delighted to take on the new location Trenoweth House this year, an incredibly unique former vicarage located in Cornwall. This house is just amazing and the seaside surroundings beautiful. Our 3 day shoot felt like a mini working holiday and the sun shone which was an added bonus!
Madeleine chose Crescent House as her favourite for its mix of warm hues and contemporary furnishings, plus its striking yellow door! The double fronted Victorian property was also added to the roster recently, and has been specifically adapted for photoshoots for an incredibly smooth shooting experience.
Nicola highlighted the ever-popular Stroud House as her favourite this year for its natural tones and wide variety of backdrops to choose from.
Katie’s choice was our last location to take on this year Brondesbury Road, saying “ I love the quality of light and the natural materials ( I love the softness of the lime washed walls and the parquet flooring) combined with period features and the outlook to the trees and greenery. It feels like a little corner of tranquility in a big city!”
Each year we endeavour to expand our curated collection, carefully selecting properties that shine with character and beauty. This year started with Leytonstone House, a beautifully modernised Victorian home bathed in neutral tones and textures. Since then we’ve also added Botley Hill Barn, Windsor Road, Hampshire House, The Tin House, Hambledon Barn and Evering Road.
Despite all these exciting additions, our existing properties are never forgotten! We’ve also been refreshing imagery for some old favourites such as Belgrave Road, the ever popular Anders House, Hastings House, The Chapel and one of our first ever locations, Thurning Hall. It’s always a pleasure to witness these locations evolving as time goes on, embellished and elevated by their owner’s loving hands.
As well as stunning new photography, we had a busy summer introducing videography to our website to help create a more immersive experience. Teaming up with OJ Film & Media, we’ve now added sweeping views of Clay House, Ham House, The Rectory and Cotswold Barn, and very much hope to continue exploring this new media next year.
New collaborations have seemingly been a theme this year, as we also started to work with Tabitha Paradise, a talented writer and photographer who took over writing our Journal posts in the Springtime. Tabitha has a gift with words and being a photographer knows the industry well so she has been a perfect match for us and has been a dream to work with.
We hope you have all had a wonderful Christmas and hoping your year ends on a sparkling high before we embark on the new adventure that is 2025.
