Since the beginning, Light Locations has always showcased extraordinary spaces that look simply beautiful in-camera. This year, their curated portfolio has grown once again, with a hand-picked selection of new locations that feel exquisitely fresh. Each month has brought with it a new instalment, from edgy London spots to sprawling commercial spaces, all with a distinct style and yet somehow still effortlessly versatile and overflowing with shooting potential.
With the dawning of the New Year came Peckham Rye, a large detached Victorian property overlooking Peckham Rye park. Its tall ceilings and original fireplaces sit seamlessly alongside the modern kitchen-dining space, all clothed in a timeless white and sitting on beautiful herringbone floors. Tall, black-framed windows fill the space with daylight whilst timber cabinetry brings subtle texture and warmth, all the while clean lines reign supreme.
This entire location feels light and chic, with a classic monochrome palette and a minimalist sense of styling. Pristine, painted staircases lead upwards to a serene bedroom with walk-in wardrobe and a statement bathroom with a dramatic veined marble wall. Even outside, this space feels neat and considered, with a herringbone patio that mirrors the flooring inside.
Another January addition, the black clad Shoreham House holds its own completely different look. The interiors of this property feel rugged and natural, much like the shoreline that sits just beyond its windows. The whole house is painted with Bauwerks lime paint, with poured concrete floors underfoot in the main open plan area. Clean lines of concrete and wood work in harmony across the kitchen, and continue up a lovely sculptural staircase.
All of the furnishings feel simple yet comfortable, all grounded with a kind of tactile timelessness. The stony walls and ceiling seem to wrap around, almost cave-like and quietly cocooning. This property holds so many lovely textures and pools of daylight, it will be exciting to see it come to life on shoot.
As its name would suggest, The Sunday School is a recently converted old school building in Deal. Added in March, this location has been artfully designed to blend elements of the past with a modern twist, rendering it completely unique in its own way. Both the open plan living area and kitchen feature concrete floors and textured walls, with a striking darkwood staircase leading upwards through a hall-like space.
Upstairs, the soft neutral palette continues and helps to make a feature of the stunning arched windows that fill the space with natural light. Curves and arcs are everywhere, from the smoothed walls to the sides of the freestanding bath, making a fluid space that feels somehow organic and has a lovely consistency throughout.
Another converted school building, The Old School was added to the Light Locations roster in April. This property has been redeveloped into a contemporary creative space that can be used for editorial shoots, brand campaigns, film, stills and content production. The main open plan area is filled with light, with lime washed walls, high ceilings and concrete floors. This space holds so much potential, with plenty of space for large set builds as well as a warm and calm atmosphere that would suit food, lifestyle, interiors, fashion and wellness shoots.
There’s useful touches like a kitchen area with a moveable island and clothes rails ready to be filled with wardrobe items, showing just how well thought out this space is. Outside there’s a south facing secure area that works well for storing equipment, or can be used for eating al fresco in the Spring and Summer months.
Each of these carefully selected properties seem to stretch out like blank canvases, ready for a splash of creative flair. Their versatile colour schemes and considered designs fill each space with untapped promise, as well as a delightful invitation for production crews to come and make their mark.
